In those first precious months, your newborn will spend almost 16 hours a day napping (lucky them). While some nod off as soon as you lay them in their nursery cot, others might take a little more soothing. This is where swaddling comes to the rescue. Tried and tested by new parents for generations, it creates a calming cocoon around your little one and reduces their startle reflex. By wrapping them snugly in swaddling blankets, you can make that leap from the womb to the big wide world a little bit easier.
We have swaddle blankets made from lightweight fabrics like breathable pure cotton muslin, which help to keep baby comfy. Of course, you'll want a design as cute as your new arrival, which is where our patterned swaddles come in: choose between delicate florals or familiar faces like Peter Rabbit. As square pieces of cloth, they are wrapped and tucked around baby just below their shoulders. Avoiding buttons, velcro or studs, swaddle blankets rely on fuss-free hook-and-loop fastenings, making nap time even more comfortable. Most of our baby swaddle blankets are machine washable too. Swaddle wraps are another easy alternative to blankets. They come in different sizes to best fit your newborn. Similar to a baby sleeping bag, you slide little one in feet first and close the adjustable wings around their shoulders. Open-and-close leg pouches make middle-of-the-night nappy changes a breeze. A wrap (with or without feet) creates a cosy, familiar feel for baby, which can help calm tired cries.
