Preparing for your new arrival can be expensive. To help you spread the cost we have teamed up with Klarna Bank AB to offer you a convenient and great value choice of four payment plan options in all Mothercare stores. The following information will help you choose the right payment plan to suit you, your lifestyle and budget. Whether you're looking to get a pram on finance or want to stock up on new baby essentials, Mothercare has you covered every step of the way.

What can I include on a payment plan?

You can include anything in our product range on a payment plan, subject to availability and with the exception of gift cards. This includes both branded and Mothercare own-brand products.

What payment plans are available?

We offer 12 months interest-free credit to all customers who spend over £249, subject to status and a minimum deposit payment of 25% of the total goods value.

What criteria do I need to fulfil?

You will need to be over 18, employed or retired, and receive a gross income of £10,000 per year. You will need to be a permanent UK resident and able to supply 3 years of UK address history. You will need to have a good credit history with no late payments, debt relief orders, CCJs, IVAs or bankruptcies. You will also need to have a UK bank account and have the details with you. You will need to pay a deposit by chip and pin card. You will need an email address as your documentation will be emailed to you. Finance offered subject to status.

Do I need to bring any ID?

You will need to present one of the following forms of ID to complete your transaction:

  • Valid passport.
  • Valid photocard driving licence or old-style (paper) driving licence (not provisional).
  • Original bank statement from the last 3 months (internet-printed bank statement is not accepted).
  • Original credit card statement from the last 3 months (internet-printed credit card statement is not accepted)
  • Utility bill from the last 3 months (not mobile phone or satellite / cable TV).
  • Council Tax Demand Notice from the last 12 months

Please note: Original copies only. Photocopies and documents printed from the internet are not considered as acceptable proofs. Access to online banking on a mobile device is not considered as acceptable proof of identity.

How long will it take to apply?

For almost all customers it takes less than 10 minutes to complete the application on an iPad.

When will my payments be due?

Your first repayment will be due one month after we have dispatched all your goods to you or your nominated third party, then further payments will be monthly thereafter.

Does purchasing with a payment plan affect Mothercare’s standard refunds and returns policy?

No, our standard refunds and returns policy is unaffected. See in store, our catalogue or online for further details.

How do I return unwanted goods?

You will need to bring all your goods in returnable condition back to Mothercare.

Refunding part of your order:

In the event of us refunding a product, we will contact Klarna Bank AB and arrange for them to adjust your credit agreement by the value of the item. We will not refund the deposit if you still have an outstanding balance on the loan, but your monthly payments will be adjusted accordingly.

Refunding your full order:

We will contact Klarna Bank AB and arrange for them to cancel your credit agreement and refund any repayments that you have made in respect of your finance agreement. The store will refund your deposit onto your chip and pin card.

What if I want to keep the goods but don’t want the credit agreement any more?

All customers have a right to withdraw from the credit agreement. You will need to inform Klarna Bank AB of your intention to withdraw within 14 days from the day after the day on which you receive the welcome pack. Contact Klarna Bank AB directly on 0333 321 60801. Klarna Bank AB will require you to repay the outstanding balance of the loan plus any applicable interest.

After the 14 day withdrawal period has expired you can settle your finance agreement at any time – upon request Klarna Bank AB will provide you with a settlement figure and details of how to pay the outstanding balance. Contact Klarna Bank AB directly on 0333 321 60801.

How do I make a complaint about my payment plan?

We aim to make your shopping experience at Mothercare as smooth as possible. From time to time there may be an occasion that you might not be happy and we would ask you to contact us in the first instance so that we have an opportunity to put things right. If you need to complain about your consumer credit arrangement please read this leaflet and use the contact details below.

If your complaint is directed to Mothercare we have procedures in place to ensure we deal with your complaint in line with the requirements set by the Financial Conduct Authority and Financial Ombudsman Service.

1 Calls cost 5p per minute plus network extras from a BT Landline, calls from mobile phones and other networks may cost more according to your service provider. Please note that calls maybe recorded for training and monitoring purposes.

2 Calls cost no more than a national standard rate call (the same as calling an 01 or 02 number but are generally included within free calling packages).
