We bought this monitor as my brother died from cot death, and also our son was born 3 months premature and had apnea episodes while in hospital, so we were quite paranoid.
The monitor has alarmed twice, both times because baby wasnt breathing, we did manage to get him started again quickly.. we were told in the hospital that it is very common for babies to just 'forget' to breathe, just most of the time they start again after a period of time by themselves.
We have no way of knowing if our baby would have started by himself again or not, but I wouldnt have liked to risk it!!
We get intermittent interference, but we do live on an RAF base, so lots of planes!
The other great thing about this is the flashing light on the parent unit which flashes with every breath. I often find myself looking at this when downstairs to check he is ok.. I think without it I would be up and down stairs 20 times a night. lol.
The monitor is a lot of money, but you really cant put a price on your baby's life. Well worth every penny.

read moreExcellent monitor - I can't fault it. I can't sleep without hearing the reassuring ticking sound of every movement (and breathe) my baby is making whilst this monitor is on. Bless the person who ever invented it. I would definitely recommend this monitor to a first time parent (which I am). I feel safe getting on with things during the day whilst my baby is having a nap while I can hear the ticking and green light which signals similtaneously with every movement (if I have music on or I am on the phone and don't want to hear the ticking sound).
The ONLY thing is that if you are in an area where you get interference (like you live in area where there is an airport or some kind of signal) and you can not pick up a channel then the mobile monitor will not work; in which case Tommee Tippee offered a full refund but since I moved shortly after my baby was born the monitor worked perfectly in my new home (no interference).
I HIGHLY recommend this monitor A+++

The assurance the flashing lights give & the fact that even if the power goes off this still works (subject to batteries in the portabal unit) its just fantastic. We read a lot about false alarms with this product, but found that the ones we had were when baby rolled off the pad. Also, wouldn't you rather have a false alarm than none at all ? Our little one had reflux & this has proved invaluable in giving us peace of mind. Wouldn't buy any other. In fact when we broke this through own stupid fault, we have been through 2 others that do not compare, but as he is 3.5 now seems silly to spend a small fortune on !

read moreI was pleased with the product to begin with as we only used the sensor mat and very rarely used the parent unit as being in a flat and having our son with us in our bedroom there seemed little need for it. Now i have tried to put him in his own room we have had nothing but issues with the product. We first noticed that the batteries ran flat quickly and the holster unit the parent unit sits in to stop the battery power being used did not work at all. We exchanged the unit for a complete new unit and now have found that the only part to work on it is the night light so i am now looking to quit with this product and find a more reliable monitor. It is perfect if the child sleeps in with you as the motion sensor bit is definitely a good idea as it gives piece of mind but the parent unit is a definite let down for us.

Don't know why the base unit has batteries anyway, says it is for when electricity goes off - but I think most parents would check on children straight away if that happened and not leave them unattened during an electricity cut. Lots of interference. Not worth the big price.
