- TENS stands for Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation
- The MamaTENS is a TENS machine designed specifically to help counter labour pain
- Labour pains might start with the first contraction or when the cervix starts to dilate, then increase progressively until the cervix is fully dilated. During this time you'll experience pain of different types and intensities but you'll be able to counter it with your MamaTENS. The innovative technology within the MamaTENS can deliver a variety of signals to suit your stage of labour
- It is safe and easy to use, non-invasive and has no side effects
- It does not impair your body's natural responses in childbirth
- You remain in control and can adjust the pain relief to suit your needs
- Rental period is for 4 weeks plus a FREE 2 week extension available on request
- A reservation can be made at any time, the earlier the better
- Delivered to your door 3 weeks before your due date
- Please note if your due date is within the next 3 weeks delivery will take 5 working days. Unfortunately once the item has been dispatched no refund can be issued
- Terms and conditions
- The MamaTENS is rented ONLY to the person whose name is on the booking form. Despatched 3 weeks before due date. Please allow 5 working days for delivery after despatch. If you have not received it by then please call 01372 72 34 34 and quote your Mothercare booking reference number.
- Cancellation: If you cancel your MamaTENS before it has been sent to you, you will receive a full refund. Once the unit has been dispatched no refund is possible for hygiene reasons, even if the unit is returned unused
- Safety
- Do not use any TENS machine: during the first 26 weeks of pregnancy
- on your abdomen at any time during pregnancy or labour
- if you have a cardiac pacemaker
- if you have, or have ever had a heart rhythm problem
- if you are suffering acute feverish conditions, from an infectious disease or tumour
- when cycling or operating machinery

read morei would highly recommend this for use during labour. I was having contractions for 48 hours before i was finally admitted, and had this on the whole time, right until i started to push. Really easy to use, and because you're thinking about it, it takes your mind off the contractions. it is a wonderful thing, and allowed me to go through child birth with no other form of pain relief, not even gas and air!!!! it really takes your mind off the pain, and helped me a great deal. If i have any more babies i will definately be getting another one of these. returning it was really easy too. all the information you need for sending it back is in the box, including the pre-paid envelope! and the helpline is great, you actually get to speak to a human being! all in all a great item.

read morei ordered this after reading the positive reviews on how great it was through contractions and labor... now i've only just had my baby and i'd been having contractions start a week early... in the last 4 days before labor day contractions were getting stronger... by the last 2 days i had my tens machine on whilst i slept... as i really wasn't getting any sleep and neither was my husband from all my pain. now don't get me wrong the tens machine works...to a point. its super easy to use and the pain relief levels are pretty good but when the real pain kicked in the day i went into labor (a day late of my due date) the tens machine became redundant.
i had the pain relief level on 10 and i felt those contractions ripping through me and all the tens machine was doing was sending needle pricks through me causing irritation and more pain. by the time i was 3/4 cm dilated i was on gas and air and had the Pethidine injection and my tens machine was a distant memory. in all honesty i wasted my money on this... the fact that women have said they used this whilst giving birth and being a great source of pain relief amazes me. i had the epidural with 3 top-ups as well as gas and air during labor and in the final half hour was put on oxygen.
you will find the tens machine will only be useful and fully functional during the early stages of contractions... when they get heavier the tens machine is useless. trust me i wasted my money on this. extremely disappointed with it.

read moreSince giving birth to my lovely daughter I have recommended this tens machine to a friend who was also pregnant at the time. I was induced on my due date, (end Aug) and felt it really took my mind off any pain (I had pain killers and dia-morphine jab too). I felt the tens not only helped me throughout the course of my contractions until pushing but It also got my husband involved by pressing the boost button when I asked as I was sucking on the gas and air. I only went up to the end of phase A but I have a low pain threshold. Definitely use it again. Thankyou x

About half an hour after i had my baby the midwife asked what the buzzing was and i realised i still had it on and was on most powerful setting and i didnt even know! I guess this works for some people, but unfortunatley not me!
